On Tuesday, May 26, a publisher announced that the famous Louvre heist will be adapted into a film and a documentary series.
During the heist, thieves stole $100 million worth of jewellery.
The investigative book "Main basse sur le Louvre" will serve as inspiration for the French director Romain Gavras.
Gavras is known for the 2025 Hollywood film "Sacrifice" starring Anya Taylor-Joy and his music videos, most recently a mesmerizing schoolboy choreography for GENER8ION.
The film studio Iconoclast has the movie rights to the October 19, 2025 heist incident, meanwhile the Flammarion publishing house shared that the rights to the documentary were obtained by a British producer.
The book, written by three writers from the weekly glossy magazine Paris Match and the French dailies Le Parisien and Le Monde, will be available in stores on Wednesday.
Currently, the film project is in the works, though neither the title nor the cast has yet to be disclosed as stated by the trade magazine Le Film Francais.
The news of the Louvre heist shocked people all over the world and sparked security concerns leading to the replacement of the museum’s director, Laurence des Cars.
After seven months of investigation and the arrest of the main culprits, the stolen goods have yet to be found.
