On July 27, 2026, after the visit of Vice President Sara Z. Duterte to her father, Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte (FPRRD), in The Hague, Netherlands, addressed certain issues raised during a post-visit interview by bystanders.
She assured the public that the former president is in good condition and stated that she keeps him updated on the state of politics in the Philippines.
During the interview, a question arose about her absence from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.'s sixth State of the Nation Address (SONA), replying that she wasn’t interested in listening to nor reading the transcript of the speech, claiming that it is “a waste of time” for the Filipino people.
Past SONA statements were brought up, including the statement of President Marcos Jr. said during his 2025 SONA, “mahiya naman kayo.”
When asked about her reaction to the statement about no administration confronting corruption as his has, VP Duterte replied that there are still no corrupt officials behind bars and the ghost or substandard flood control project funds were signed and approved by his office, knowing that there were insertions.
The upcoming 2028 presidential elections were highlighted with bystanders outside The Hague in full support of VP Duterte’s candidacy for president, but VP Duterte stated that the Marcos administration is a “dictatorship” and asserts that there might not even be any elections happening in 2028.
VP Duterte will hold a rally in front of the International Criminal Court (ICC) on July 29, 2026, for the demanded freedom of FPRRD from The Hague, asserting his innocence from any charges against him.
