Maynila, PHILIPPINES — Halos tiyak na ang laban sa kaso ng impeachment ni Vice President Sara Duterte matapos igiit ng ilang mambabatas na sapat ang bilang ng mga kongresista na sumusuporta rito.
Ayon kay Bicol Saro Rep. Terry Ridon, “all but certain” na maaaprubahan ito dahil may tinatayang 215 na mambabatas ang sumusuporta sa kaso bago ang pagboto ng Kamara ngayong Lunes sa mga paratang na nag-aakusa sa Bise Presidente ng mga paglabag sa konstitusyon.
“We are ready to impeach her,” ani Ridon sa isang panayam.
Higit pa rito, inaasahan tatalakayin ito ng 318 miyembro ng Kamara bago bumoto kung sang-ayon o hindi sa pagpapadala nito sa Senado.
“I’m confident that there will be a sufficient number, that more than one-third of all the members will vote in favor of the impeachment,” wika ng Senior Deputy Majority Leader Lorenz Defensor sa panayam ng Inquirer.
Depensa ni Duterte
Dagdag pa niya, “too late [for them] to defend her or present evidence” kung kokontrahin ng mga kakampi ni Duterte.
“All we have to do is vote if the Vice President should be impeached. If you’re a supporter of the Vice President, you should have defended her at the committee on justice,” he said.
Samantala, lumakas ang alegasyon laban kay Duterte matapos iharap noong Abril ang mga testimonya ng ilang testigo at mga listahan na nag-uugnay sa kanya sa maling paggamit ng pondo habang nasa puwesto.
Iniulat din ng Commission on Audit na may mga iregularidad sa paggamit ng confidential funds ni Duterte bilang bise presidente at dating kalihim ng Kagawaran ng Edukasyon mula 2022 hanggang 2024.
Gayunpaman, tumanggi si Duterte na pumunta sa mga pagdinig dahil iginiit niya na may motibo impeachment complaint laban sa kanya.
Sa kasalukuyan, magsisimula ang plenaryo sa Kamara tungkol sa impeachment mamayang 3 p.m., na may inaasahang botohan pagkatapos ng pagtatalo.
